New Look for Christmas Lights in the Village and Scholarship Opportunities at MCC

Waco, TX – The Waco area is gearing up for a festive holiday season, with new updates to a beloved local tradition and important scholarship opportunities for students.

One of the highlights this year will be the Christmas Lights in the Village display at the Mayborn Museum, which will feature a fresh look. Visitors can expect a beautifully redesigned experience, blending the spirit of the season with the charm of the museum’s village setting. The event is a popular holiday attraction in Waco, offering families an opportunity to stroll through the illuminated village, creating lasting memories amid the glowing lights and seasonal decorations.

In education news, the McLennan Community College (MCC) Foundation is now accepting applications for scholarships for the 2025-26 academic year. The application process is open until midnight on January 15, 2025, at mclennan.awardspring.com. To apply, students must have an MCC-issued student ID and email address.

The MCC Foundation, which manages over 600 scholarship funds, provides financial support based on a variety of criteria, including academic merit, financial need, major field of study, high school attended, and even employer or community affiliation. Students who may not be able to apply in the current window will have a second opportunity to submit applications from May 1-15, 2025. However, those applying in the second round will not be eligible for all scholarship opportunities available in the first application period.

These two updates are just a few of the many events and opportunities happening around Waco this season, as the community looks forward to both festive celebrations and academic support for its students.
