Texas – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) announced their participation in the 2025 Texas New Fruit Growers Conference, held October 9-10 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Tarrant County Plaza Building in Fort Worth.
Commissioner Miller said the conference provides an opportunity to support new fruit producers. “We’re here to listen, share what we know, and let Texas fruit producers know we’ve got their back in the field, in the market, and at the Capitol,” he stated.
Hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, the conference offered newcomers guidance on fruit varieties suitable for Texas, along with starter classes, live-action labs, and an on-site field tour.
Miller highlighted the state’s diverse fruit crops, from watermelons to ruby red grapefruit, and emphasized the importance of events that help new growers enter the industry. He encouraged attendees to visit the GO TEXAN booth to connect with TDA representatives, learn about support programs, grants, disaster relief resources, and initiatives for specialty crops.
