Texas – “Senate Democrats spent four years cheering on the weaponization of the Justice Department,” Sen. Ted Cruz said as he renewed his criticism of the federal investigation known as Operation Arctic Frost, accusing Democrats of ignoring what he described as politically motivated actions by the Department of Justice.
Cruz, R-Texas, made the comments in a social media post while responding to renewed attention surrounding the investigation, which Republican lawmakers have argued involved an improper use of federal law enforcement authority against conservative groups, political figures and members of Congress.
“Nearly 200 subpoenas. More than 400 Republican-aligned targets. The phone records of Republican senators secretly seized,” Cruz wrote. “Now they want to pretend they care about politicized justice.”
Cruz’s comments referenced allegations surrounding Operation Arctic Frost, an investigation connected to efforts to examine attempts to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election. Republican lawmakers have continued to raise concerns about the scope of the investigation, including claims that investigators collected records involving Republican organizations and elected officials.
