Dallas, TX – The Dallas Police Department announced Thursday the death of Sergeant Joshua Boykin, who died as a result of injuries sustained in an airplane accident on May 16, 2026.
In a statement, the department said it was deeply saddened by the loss of Boykin, badge number 8910, and praised his years of service to the Dallas community.
According to the department, Boykin served the people of Dallas with honor, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to public service throughout his law enforcement career.

The department said he earned the respect of both his fellow officers and community members through his dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to helping others.
Officials did not release additional information regarding the airplane accident or the injuries Boykin suffered.
