Waco, TX – The City of Waco has announced temporary road closures as work continues on the Speegleville Road Improvement Project, with construction crews working to complete a key phase before the start of the new school year.
According to the city, Oak Road is currently closed between Speegleville Road and Sunrise Lane to allow crews to safely carry out construction activities.
Beginning July 27, the closure will expand to include the entire intersection of Speegleville Road and Oak Road. The closures are expected to remain in place through approximately Aug. 8, weather permitting.
City officials said construction is being accelerated while school is out to help reduce traffic impacts once students return to class.
The Speegleville Road Improvement Project is aimed at enhancing the roadway and improving traffic flow in the area as part of the city’s ongoing infrastructure improvements.
Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes, allow extra travel time and use caution when driving through nearby work zones.
The City of Waco thanked residents for their patience and cooperation as crews continue work to improve the city’s transportation network.
