Waco, TX – The City of Waco hosted a community “Meet the Machines” event at Brazos Park East as part of National Public Works Week, giving residents an up-close look at the equipment and crews that help maintain city operations.
The event featured a display of public works trucks and heavy equipment used in daily city services, allowing attendees to interact directly with the machinery that supports infrastructure maintenance.
Community members also had the opportunity to meet the crews who operate the vehicles and perform essential behind-the-scenes work across the city.
Organizers included hands-on activities for families, along with crafts and a scavenger hunt that allowed participants to earn small prizes.
The event was designed to engage residents of all ages while highlighting the role public works employees play in keeping city services running efficiently.
City officials emphasized that public works staff contribute daily to essential operations such as road maintenance, waste collection, and emergency infrastructure response.
City of Waco Public Information Office noted that while much of this work happens out of public view, its impact is felt throughout the community every day.
