AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) hosted its 2nd Annual Memorial Bomb Suit Run, an event dedicated to supporting the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community and raising awareness for mental health.
According to APD, the event benefited “After The Long Walk” and brought together law enforcement personnel, community members, and public safety partners for a two-mile run.
APD Special Operations units, including the Bomb Squad and SWAT team, participated in the event and displayed equipment such as robots and the BearCat vehicle.
Officials said the event served as both a memorial and outreach effort, highlighting the challenges faced by EOD personnel while also encouraging mental health awareness within the public safety community.
The department thanked participants for joining the run and showing support, noting that community engagement plays an important role in strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the public.
APD said it appreciated the turnout and the continued support from residents and partner agencies who took part in the event.
