Texas – Governor Greg Abbott announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved his request for a disaster declaration for Northeast Texas communities affected by severe weather, including tornadoes, earlier this month. This declaration encompasses several Texas counties, including Bowie, Camp, Cass, Marion, Morris, Red River, Titus, and Upshur.
Governor Abbott expressed his commitment to supporting the affected communities, stating, “The State of Texas continues to work to provide Northeast Texans with the necessary resources to recover from recent tornadoes and severe weather. With this approval, impacted Texans will be able to qualify for low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration so they can begin to rebuild their homes and businesses that sustained storm damage.”
The SBA’s approval grants access to several disaster relief programs, including Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans, and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) assistance. These programs are designed to provide low-interest loans to homeowners, renters, and businesses in the affected regions, helping them recover from the damage caused by the storms and tornadoes that struck earlier this month.
Residents and business owners seeking assistance can apply online, access additional disaster resources, and download loan applications via the SBA’s website at sba.gov/disaster. For further information, applicants can contact the SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email [email protected]. Those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech disabilities can use telecommunications relay services by dialing 7-1-1.
Additionally, a Disaster Loan Outreach Center will be set up to assist applicants in completing their applications and answering any questions regarding the loan programs. Starting tomorrow at 11 a.m., the center will be located at the Morris County Collaborative at 200 Jefferson Street in Daingerfield, TX. The center will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This announcement marks an important step in the ongoing recovery efforts for Northeast Texas, providing much-needed financial assistance to those in need.
