Governor Greg Abbott announces $17.3 million grant to SpaceX for expansion of semiconductor R&D facility in Bastrop

Texas – Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he has amended the state’s disaster declaration to include Palo Pinto County following the impact of severe storms earlier this week.

With the addition, the total number of counties included in the disaster declaration has increased to four. State officials noted that more counties could be added as damage assessments continue.

Abbott said the state is closely monitoring affected communities and emphasized that the updated declaration allows first responders and emergency management teams to deploy additional resources and assistance more quickly.

The Texas Division of Emergency Management continues to review damage reports submitted through its Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool survey. Residents impacted by the storms are encouraged to report damage when it is safe to do so, as the information helps officials determine the extent of impacts and assess eligibility for potential disaster assistance.

Officials also urged Texans to stay informed on weather conditions, make emergency plans, and follow guidance from state and local authorities.

The state has taken additional steps in response to the severe weather, including issuing the initial disaster declaration for North Texas storms, activating emergency response resources, and requesting joint preliminary damage assessments with local and federal partners.
