Waco, TX – Waco Habitat for Humanity recently dedicated a new home for Jonisha Majors and her family, marking the beginning of a new chapter for her and her five children.
The City of Waco highlighted its involvement in the project, noting that more than 30 city employees volunteered during Habitat’s “Raise the Roof” event in October 2025 to help bring the home closer to completion.
During the event, city employees worked alongside community partners to help frame the house, install the roof, and set the windows as part of a community effort to support affordable homeownership.
The completed home now provides Majors and her family with a place to create lasting memories and establish a more stable future.
The “Raise the Roof” project is a partnership between Waco Habitat for Humanity, the City of Waco, and local donors with the goal of building homes for low-income families in the community.
City officials expressed appreciation for Habitat for Humanity and the volunteers and donors who contributed to making the project possible.
The dedication ceremony celebrated not only the completion of a new home but also the impact of community partnerships focused on expanding access to safe and affordable housing in Waco.
