Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department joined law enforcement agencies from across McLennan County during the annual Peace Officer Memorial Service held at the Peace Officer Memorial Plaza in Indian Spring Park.
According to the City of Waco – Public Information, the ceremony honored peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and brought together officers, families, city leaders, and community members in remembrance.
During the event, Jim Holmes presented a proclamation recognizing the service and sacrifice of fallen officers, while Ryan Holt delivered remarks honoring members of law enforcement and their families.
As part of the ceremony, the name of each fallen officer was read aloud while family members and fellow officers placed roses at the base of the memorial monument in tribute.
City officials also thanked residents and attendees who gathered to support the families of fallen officers and the broader law enforcement community during the memorial event.
The service was held as part of National Police Week observances taking place across the country to recognize officers who died while serving their communities.
