Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department has arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a homicide that occurred nearly one year ago and resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man.
Police announced the arrest of Tyrese Clark on September 9, 2026, saying he had been taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with the September 21, 2025, killing of Elijah McIntyre.
The investigation began after Waco officers responded to a shooting near the 900 block of N. 9th Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. on September 21, 2025.
When officers arrived, they learned that two males had been shot. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where McIntyre, 18, was pronounced dead. Police later identified him as the victim in the homicide investigation.
The second victim, a 19-year-old male, was reported to be in stable condition following the shooting.
At the time, police said no arrest had been made and described the incident as an isolated homicide. Investigators asked the public to provide information that could help identify the person responsible.
Nearly a year later, Clark was taken into custody and charged with murder.
The Waco Police Department credited the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force with assisting investigators in locating and apprehending Clark.
The department did not release additional details about what led investigators to identify Clark as a suspect or provide further information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The arrest marks a significant development in the investigation into McIntyre’s death, which remained unsolved since the September 2025 shooting.
