Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department announced a new educational opportunity following the conclusion of its Community Opportunity Event, continuing its efforts to support local growth and development.
According to the department, it has partnered with Southern Careers Institute, which has donated a $4,500 scholarship to be awarded to one recipient at its Waco campus.
While the Community Opportunity Event has ended, officials said initiatives like this remain a priority because they help individuals pursue education and career advancement.
The department stated that opportunities like the scholarship reflect the purpose behind the Community Opportunity Event, which was created to provide meaningful chances for people to grow, connect, and succeed within the community.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent to be eligible. The deadline to apply is May 15, and submissions must be completed online through the program’s application portal.
Officials noted that the scholarship is not a full-ride award and can only be used at Southern Careers Institute.
