Texas – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced an agricultural emergency declaration affecting Lamar, Palo Pinto, Parker, and Wise counties following a series of severe storms that caused widespread damage across North Texas.
According to the Texas Department of Agriculture, the storms brought destructive winds, tornadoes, heavy rainfall, hail, and localized flooding, resulting in damage to farms, ranches, crops, fencing, and rural infrastructure.
In response, the agency is activating the State of Texas Agricultural Relief Fund (STAR Fund) along with other disaster assistance resources to support affected agricultural producers as recovery efforts begin.
Officials said the STAR Fund provides donation-driven grants intended to help farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses rebuild after natural disasters. The program is funded through private contributions rather than taxpayer dollars.
The department is also directing producers to additional support services, including a hay and feed hotline for emergency assistance and a 24/7 rural mental health helpline designed for individuals in agricultural communities.
Commissioner Miller said the state is working closely with local officials and partners to assess damage and ensure impacted producers receive assistance as quickly as possible.
He encouraged those affected in the listed counties to begin the application process for relief resources as recovery efforts continue.
