Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department packed 1,500 backpacks filled with school supply essentials ahead of this year’s Back to School Bash, scheduled for Saturday, July 25.
The free community event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Waco Convention Center, located at 100 Washington Ave. School supplies will be distributed while supplies last.
In the days leading up to the event, the department thanked numerous businesses, organizations, and community members who donated backpacks and school supplies to help students prepare for the upcoming school year.
Among those recognized were Waco Good Fellas, Alliance Bank, the Waco-McLennan County Health Department, Educators Credit Union, VOICE, Community Bank & Trust, and the YMCA. Police also thanked residents who contributed during recent “Stuff the Cruiser” donation events.
The Waco Police Department said it hopes to see families at the Back to School Bash as the community comes together to help local students start the new school year with the supplies they need.
