Waco, TX – The City of Waco announced that construction work will continue on the Herring Avenue Bridge over the Brazos River, bringing a temporary closure to westbound traffic beginning May 26.
City officials said the westbound side of the bridge between North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and North University Parks Drive will be closed for approximately one month, depending on weather conditions and construction progress.
A detour route will direct drivers to Waco Drive and Fourth Street before reconnecting with Herring Avenue. Officials encouraged motorists to follow all posted signage and expect additional travel time while the project is underway.
According to the city, once work on the westbound side is completed, construction activity and lane closures will shift to the eastbound side of the bridge for an estimated two months.
The infrastructure project is part of ongoing efforts to improve transportation conditions and maintain the bridge crossing over the Brazos River. City officials thanked residents for their patience as crews continue the improvement work.
