City of Waco Announces Thanksgiving Holiday Closure

The City of Waco has announced that its offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Residents should be aware of several service adjustments during this period.

Solid Waste Collection Changes

For those with Thursday trash collection, the City of Waco will conduct earlier pick-up on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024. Residents are advised to place their gray waste carts and blue recycling carts out for collection a day earlier than usual. The Friday collection route will proceed as normal.

Additionally, Solid Waste offices and the Cobbs Recycling Center will be closed on both Thursday and Friday. However, the landfill will only close on Thursday, Nov. 28.

Water Bill Payments

The drive-thru Water Office located at 425 Franklin Ave. will be closed on both Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday. Water customers who need to make payments during the holiday can still do so by phone at (254) 299-2489.

Department Closures

Several City of Waco departments will be closed for the holiday:

  • Waco-McLennan Public Health will close on both Thursday and Friday.
  • All Waco-McLennan County Library locations will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and remain closed on Thursday and Friday.

Holiday Closures on Thursday, Nov. 28 Only

The following City of Waco facilities will only be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28:

  • Cameron Park Zoo
  • Cottonwood Creek Golf Course
  • Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum
  • Waco Mammoth National Monument
  • Waco Transit System

Residents are encouraged to check with specific departments for further information or to plan ahead for any necessary services during the holiday season.
