Applications open for Waco Police Department Junior Police Academy

Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department announced that applications are now open for its Junior Police Academy, a program designed for students in grades 9 through 12.

The two-week course provides participants with an inside look at the police profession while helping them develop skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication.

Officials said the program also aims to strengthen relationships between officers and young people in the community.

Department leaders noted that the academy plays a key role in building trust and fostering positive connections between law enforcement and local youth.

Applications for the program are due by May 22, 2026.
