Waco, TX – The City of Waco, along with Creative Waco and City Center Waco, marked the grand opening of the newly refreshed 7th Street Plaza last week, introducing upgrades to the downtown space and unveiling the “Waco Forever” mural.
Due to rain, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was moved indoors to Startup Waco, though officials said the change in location did not affect the strong turnout or enthusiasm for the project.
Located at the intersection of 7th Street and Austin Avenue, the updated plaza includes new lighting, streetscape improvements, and an interactive pavement mural designed by Haley Cash. The artwork was completed with assistance from interns participating in the ArtPrenticeship program.
City officials said the revitalized space is expected to serve as a hub for community activity. The plaza will host recurring First Friday events featuring live music, local vendors, and entertainment aimed at drawing residents and visitors to downtown Waco.
