Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department presented several public safety updates during a recent City of Waco City Council work session, highlighting ongoing efforts to reduce violent crime and expand community outreach programs.
During the presentation, the department discussed violent crime trends during the summer months from 2022 through 2025 and outlined investigative strategies aimed at continuing the decline of violent crime across the city.
Officials also highlighted youth and teen crime prevention and intervention efforts led by the department’s Neighborhood Engagement Team. The initiatives focus on community involvement and proactive outreach designed to reduce juvenile-related crime.
The department additionally introduced its Multi-Disciplinary Response Team, which was created to expand outreach and improve responses to behavioral health crisis calls for service.
Police officials also announced the department recently received the NIBIN Gold Standard designation. According to the department, evidence acquisitions are being completed in an average of 2.1 business days, with those acquisitions resulting in a 30% lead rate.
