Houston, TX – The fatal shooting of a man that occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. on May 13 in the 9600 block of Tidwell Road will be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury, according to the Houston Police Department.
The identity of the deceased male, believed to be in his 40s, remains pending notification of family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective K. Aloysius reported that patrol officers initially responded to a suspicious person call in the 9600 block of Summer Shadow Way. Upon arrival, officers were informed of a shooting nearby and located an unresponsive male in a ditch at the Tidwell Road location. The Houston Fire Departmentparamedics responded and pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
Investigators determined the man had been trespassing in multiple backyards earlier in the day. The shooter told investigators he attempted to escort the individual out of the neighborhood when the man allegedly assaulted him, leading to the discharge of a firearm that struck the deceased. Authorities stated the shooter remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the case was referred to a Harris County Grand Jury for further review.
