Waco, TX – The City of Waco Public Information Office announced that construction work will continue on the Herring Avenue Bridge over the Brazos River, with major traffic changes scheduled to begin next week.
City officials said the westbound side of the bridge from North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to North University Parks Drive will close beginning Tuesday, May 26, and is expected to remain closed for about one month, depending on weather conditions and construction activity.
A detour route will direct traffic to Waco Drive and Fourth Street before reconnecting with Herring Avenue.
According to the city, once work on the westbound side is completed, the closure will shift to the eastbound lanes for approximately two months.
Officials encouraged drivers in Waco to follow posted signage and plan for additional travel time during the construction project.
