Houston, TX – The Houston Police Department has released body camera footage and a summary video related to an officer-involved shooting that occurred at 13600 East Freeway on April 25, during an incident that left an armed suspect dead and prompted an ongoing investigation.
According to investigators, Houston police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man firing shots at employees behind a business near the East Interstate Highway 10 corridor. When officers arrived, they located an open rear fire exit and announced their presence before entering the building.
Officials said officers encountered a male suspect armed with a handgun and wearing body armor inside an office area. The suspect allegedly opened fire on officers, who then returned fire. Three officers discharged their weapons, striking the suspect multiple times. He was later transported to a hospital by the Houston Fire Department and pronounced dead.
Authorities stated that officers provided first aid at the scene before the suspect was taken for medical treatment. No employees inside the business were injured during the incident.
Police said the suspect had earlier broken into at least one vehicle in the area, which led to a car alarm and prompted employees to investigate. The suspect allegedly fired at employees as they exited the building and followed them inside through a rear door, forcing them to take shelter and call 911.
The identities of the suspect and involved officers have not been fully released, pending notification of family members and standard investigative procedures. Officials confirmed that the officers involved include personnel from the Northeast Patrol Division, with varying years of service.
As with all officer-involved shootings, the case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit, Internal Affairs Division, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
