Texas Senate candidate Talarico accuses Paxton of ‘panicking and refusing to answer questions’ about owning 15 homes on a government salary and alleged voter fraud

Texas – Texas state Rep. James Talarico accused Attorney General Ken Paxton of avoiding questions about his personal finances and voting history, saying the Republican Senate candidate has “0 questions answered” after reporters attempted to question him about allegations involving his property holdings and voter registration.

“15 homes. 6 fraudulent votes. 0 questions answered,” Talarico wrote on social media, referencing reports about Paxton’s real estate holdings and allegations that he voted in multiple elections using an address where he may no longer have lived.

The comment came after Paxton faced questions from reporters during a rare press conference, where journalists asked about his real estate holdings and claims that he voted in six elections while registered at a previous address. According to reports from The Texas Tribune and ProPublica, Paxton appeared to have continued using the Collin County address on voter records after moving out of the home he shared with his wife, The Texas Tribune reported.

The allegations have become a major point of attack for Talarico, who is challenging Paxton in the 2026 race for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. John Cornyn.

During the press conference, reporters asked Paxton about the accusations, including a question about whether he could respond to Talarico’s claims regarding his property ownership. Paxton did not answer the questions, and the event ended after his press representative stepped in, per reports.

Talarico and his supporters have highlighted reports that Paxton owns multiple properties while questioning how those holdings align with his public salary. Reports have examined Paxton’s real estate portfolio, including properties held personally and through trusts.

The Democratic candidate has also focused on allegations surrounding Paxton’s voter registration. The Texas Tribune reported that Paxton may have voted in six elections while remaining registered at an address where he no longer appeared to live, though the issue has not resulted in a legal finding that Paxton committed voter fraud.

Paxton has not admitted wrongdoing and has pushed back against criticism from Democrats, arguing that political opponents are attempting to use personal attacks against him during the Senate race.

The dispute comes as both candidates attempt to define the race ahead of the 2026 election. Talarico has made ethics and accountability a central part of his campaign against Paxton, while Paxton has emphasized his record as Texas attorney general and his conservative priorities.

The exchange also followed a social media post from Talarico in which he criticized Paxton for refusing to answer reporters’ questions, while pointing to the allegations involving his property holdings and voting address.

Paxton, who has served as Texas attorney general since 2015, previously faced political controversy during his tenure, including a 2023 impeachment by the Texas House over allegations involving abuse of office, securities fraud-related issues and improper conduct. He was later acquitted by the Texas Senate.

The Senate race between Paxton and Talarico is expected to be one of the most closely watched contests in the country, with both candidates seeking to appeal to Texas voters ahead of the 2026 election.
