WACO, Texas – Waco Fire Chief Scott Walker has announced his decision to resign from his position, citing a need to return home to Arizona to support a family member facing an unexpected health issue.
Walker’s resignation, effective February 22, marks the end of his impactful tenure with the City of Waco. During his time as Fire Chief, Walker garnered praise for his leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to the safety of the Waco community. “Chief Walker has been an exemplary leader,” the city said in a press release. “His dedication, vision, and passion for service have left an indelible mark on our community.”
While Walker departs to focus on his family, Waco officials have assured the public that steps are being taken to ensure continued leadership within the fire department. The city plans to appoint an interim fire chief and will also begin a national search for a permanent replacement.
