Waco Fire Department Hazmat Team responds to gas well explosion in Wortham

Waco fire department responds to structure fire on 4400 block of Lacey Circle

Waco, TX – The Waco Fire Department’s Hazmat Team responded Wednesday afternoon to assist crews at the scene of a gas well explosion and fire in Wortham.

According to the Department, the regional hazmat response was dispatched to the 800 block of South 3rd Street in Wortham following the explosion.

The Waco Fire Department announced the response in a social media post at approximately 1:07 p.m. on May 27.

No additional information about injuries or the cause of the explosion was immediately released.
