Waco Man Arrested on Aggravated Assault and Drug Charges After Violating Protective Order

Waco, TX – Waco police arrested a 27-year-old man early on Christmas Eve after he allegedly violated a protective order and assaulted a woman with a firearm. Oscar Daniel Perez was booked into McLennan County Jail on Tuesday, facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, violation of a protective order, and several drug-related offenses.

The incident unfolded just before 3:30 a.m. on December 24, when officers responded to reports of gunfire and a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 700 block of Ruby Avenue. A concerned neighbor had called 911, reporting a single gunshot followed by a woman’s cries, including the plea, “Don’t kill me.”

Upon arrival, police found the victim, a 30-year-old woman, exiting her apartment. Outside, they discovered a loaded firearm magazine, along with a hat and shoes scattered across the yard. Though initially uncooperative, the woman eventually spoke to officers, telling them she had spent the night out at local bars with Perez. She claimed the situation turned violent when the pair returned to her apartment and got into a heated argument.

According to the woman, during the argument, Perez struck her in the head with a firearm. She said she attempted to disarm him, which led to an accidental discharge of the weapon.

Officers located Perez on foot a short distance away from the scene and took him into custody. During questioning, they learned that Perez had violated a protective order that had been filed against him just a week earlier. Authorities also found a substantial amount of illegal substances on his person, both during the arrest and later at McLennan County Jail.

Perez was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, violation of a protective order, and multiple drug offenses. He remains in custody at the McLennan County Jail.
