Waco Man Captured After Violent Assaults and Home Invasion

Waco Man Captured After Violent Assaults and Home Invasion

Waco, TX – A 37-year-old man wanted for a series of violent crimes, including a 2021 assault and a 2022 home invasion, was apprehended by Waco police on December 30, 2024. Sabino Guzman-Perez, an undocumented immigrant, is facing multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon-family violence and one count of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault.

Guzman-Perez is currently being held without bond at the McLennan County Jail. Additionally, authorities have placed an immigration detainer on him, meaning that if he is released from jail for any reason, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would have 48 hours to take him into custody.

The violent spree began on March 25, 2021, when Guzman-Perez and his then-girlfriend were living in McGregor, Texas. After the victim ended their relationship, Guzman-Perez traveled to her parents’ home in Waco, warning her that if she didn’t return to him, she “was not going to be with anyone else.” When the victim and her new boyfriend tried to leave, Guzman-Perez followed them in his truck.

At an intersection in Waco, Guzman-Perez deliberately rammed his vehicle into the back of the victim’s car, causing significant damage. The victim, fearing for her life, believed Guzman-Perez was attempting to kill her and her new boyfriend. In the aftermath of the crash, Guzman-Perez allegedly used a roofing knife to assault and injure the boyfriend before fleeing the scene.

Nearly a year later, on March 9, 2022, Guzman-Perez broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend’s mother. Inside, he confronted the victim and her boyfriend, drawing a gun and threatening to kill them. The situation escalated when Guzman-Perez fired a shot into the floor, but the couple managed to disarm him. Despite their pleas, Guzman-Perez refused to leave and threatened further violence if anyone called the police. He eventually fled the scene, and authorities had already issued warrants for his arrest in connection with the March 2021 assault.

Police described Guzman-Perez as a violent and dangerous individual, warning that he had attempted to kill the victims in both incidents. His capture brings a long-awaited sense of justice to the victims and an end to his violent spree.
