Waco, TX – A McLennan County grand jury has indicted 25-year-old Amani Gibson of Arlington on a murder charge following a shooting outside a Waco nightclub in February that left 39-year-old Winfred Talley Jr. dead. The indictment stems from an incident at Club BLAAM, located at 641 Ruby Avenue, where Talley was shot and killed in the early morning hours of February 4.
Gibson, who remains in custody with a $500,000 bond, was arrested in Arlington in October in connection with the shooting. According to arrest records, Waco police responded to a 3 a.m. disturbance call at the club and discovered a 19-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Authorities later learned that Talley, along with an 18-year-old woman, had also been taken to the hospital by witnesses from the scene. While the two women were expected to survive their injuries, Talley was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The shooting followed a series of altercations inside the club between Gibson and Talley. Witnesses and security footage show that Gibson had been ejected from the club twice that night after becoming involved in a physical altercation with Talley. According to a warrant affidavit, one of the videos shows Gibson being restrained on the ground near the entrance of the club after the second incident.
After being escorted out of the venue, Gibson reportedly went to his girlfriend’s car, retrieved a firearm, and returned to the parking lot. Witnesses told police that Gibson then fired several shots at Talley, striking both Talley and the two women. The shooting occurred in a crowded parking lot as club staff began directing patrons to leave, creating a large gathering outside.
Investigators say they used witness accounts, cellphone videos, surveillance footage, and physical evidence to build their case against Gibson. Spent shell casings recovered from the scene were linked to a 2022 incident in which Gibson is suspected of unlawfully carrying and discharging a weapon.
Gibson has been indicted solely for the murder of Talley, with no charges filed in connection to the injuries sustained by the two women. Authorities have said the investigation remains ongoing.
