Waco, TX – The City of Waco, alongside Creative Waco and City Center Waco, marked the grand opening of the newly refreshed 7th Street Plaza last week, introducing updates to the downtown space along with a new public mural.
Originally planned as an outdoor event, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was moved indoors to Startup Waco due to rain, though attendance and enthusiasm remained strong.
Located at the intersection of 7th Street and Austin Avenue, the plaza now features upgraded lighting, streetscape improvements, and an interactive pavement mural titled “Waco Forever.”
The artwork was designed by Haley Cash and completed with the help of interns from the ArtPrenticeship program.
City officials said the revitalized space is intended to serve as a central gathering place for the community.
The plaza will also host regular First Friday events, featuring live music, local vendors, and entertainment aimed at drawing residents and visitors to the downtown area.
